On the occasion of Milano Design Week 2023, Tacchini teams up again with Formafantasma in the pursuit of greater sustainability. At Capsule Plaza, the brand presents Tacchini FLOCK, a project installation conceived and curated by Formafantasma. Reworking upholstered seating from the inside, Formafantasma introduces a more sustainable, nature-based process for the manufacture of iconic Tacchini designs, with a technique inspired by antique mattress production, using surplus sheep’s wool to replace industrial foam. In combination with natural latex, the non-polluting sheep’s wool provides softness and stuffing utilizing a natural material that has paradoxically been treated as a waste product.

Spotti launches the Why Now? Collection on the occasion of Milan Design Week, curated by the Mr.Lawrence studio, with a special setting inside the spaces of Viale Piave in Milan, in a close and balanced dialogue with the products of the Tacchini brand – partner of the exhibition project. The collaboration with Tacchini stems from the long relationship between the two realities. In the past, the furniture and furnishing accessories brand had already chosen Spotti to present new products, with personal set-ups capable of illustrating the aesthetics of the brand and its connection with architecture. The Why Now? Collection promotes a comparison between new creatives and new designers, stimulating a contamination of languages that also involves the exhibition partner Tacchini. A selection of novelties and icons of the brand will in fact be exhibited in dialogue with the Spotti collection, an aesthetic and creative sharing that will present the Tacchini catalogue and the 2022 news, including the sofa Le Mura by Mario Bellini.

On the occasion of the Milano Design week 2022 at Spazio Maiocchi, Tacchini launches the re-edition of Le Mura sofa by Mario Bellini. For the presentation, Tacchini invited the design duo Formafantasma and art critic Cristiana Perrella to interpret the modular and versatile nature of Le Mura. Formafantasma and Perrella conceived Cinema Tacchini as an immersive installation: different compositions made with the modular elements of Le Mura, defining areas of comfort where one can relax while watching an on-screen cinematic excursus on the theme of sitting.

“The installation is conceived as a cinematic arena displaying a selection of the many possible arrangements of the sofa Le Mura, together with individual tv screens and two wall compositions. The screens showcase in alternation a selection of scenes from movies, all of which explore the many ways the object of the sofa has been represented in cinema and how its use has evolved over the years. Le Mura and its timeless design provides a response to the needs of adapting to the different necessities of daily life.”

After the event, the materials used for the installation will be reused or employed in other exhibition projects. The fabrics selected both for the upholstery and for the installation are ecologically certified by Kvadrat, a brand that distinguishes itself since years for its attention environment-friendly materials. The exhibition space is covered with Remix, an elegant fabric characterized by an exceptional depth of color and a dense and minimalist texture, while Le Mura are dressed with Planum, an exceptionally elastic knitted fabric suitable for covering organic shapes, characterized by a discreet matte sheen and a natural and dry hand, which stands out thanks to its refined woven appearance and a smooth and soft surface.

Castiglioni’s Design
Research/Experimentation/Method
25.01 — 17.03.2019, Galleria Harry Bertoia, Pordenone (Italy)

The exhibit embraces, for the first time with a complete view, the creative activity of the three Castiglioni Brothers, Livio (1911-1979), Pier Giacomo (1913-1968) and Achille (1918-2002), highlighting the very tight imperative and cultural correspondence and the collaborative skill that made their work unique in the Italian design scene. With the help of archive material held in the Fondazione Achille Castiglioni in Milan the exhibit presented in Pordenone, in the rooms of the Galleria Harry Bertoia, the prolific design activity of the Castiglionis through the drawings, prototypes and objects (created in the arch of over half a century from 1940 to 2000) highlighting the role of pioneers in the construction of the Italian design identity and of the designer’s profession. The subtitle – research, experimentation and method – want to highlight the possibility to reactivate the value and the contemporaneity of the Castiglioni method to conceive the aesthetic quality, the functionality and the use of the products (a lot of which are still in production) indicating how their work is to this day rich of teachings for the new generations and full of interest for the public.

Sancarlo is a reissue of a classic designed by Achille Castiglioni. Both versions, armchair and sofa, are composed of a simple, linear, curved tubular frame, on which a number of upholstered cushions are positioned. A ground-breaking concept when it was first presented, it has now been made even more effective with differentiated foam filling, in which the density varies according to the region of the body to be supported. Full of character, Sancarlo is a veritable icon of 20th-century design.

Tacchini isn’t just culture, it’s glamour. And this is also part of our Savoir-Faire. Creating atmosphere and beauty for people to enjoy is an exciting mission that requires tirelesscreativity and a touch of healthy madness. But when you are onto the right idea, developing it is a pleasure and also fun. To present the new Pastilles collection by Studiopepe, a renowned interior and product design studio in Milan formed by Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto, we devised an event that was different, with a hint of Milanese lifestyle and a nostalgic play on style. We sought out a location that was unusual yet had a high design content. We are talking about Bar Basso in Milan. There could be no better backdrop to present the sophisticated collection of Pastilles lounge chairs, poufs and coffee tables, inspired by the glamour of 70s clubs and dressed for the event in a palette of mid-tones, which match with precious fur and leather surfaces and play with the rich patterns of the Dedar fabrics chosen for the occasion. The installation will create a refined ’70s atmosphere, in which lounge chairs, poufs and coffee tables in smooth rounded shapes will welcome visitors to enjoy a moment of pleasant relaxation. The interpretation of the product in this space transforms the classic bucket seat armchair, which is revisited in a contemporary key through a sinuous shell that contains the seat and adds comfort to the design, blending it into the environment through the choice of colours, shapes and finishes. It is finished off with a family of coherent shapes for the poufs and coffee tables in different sizes, demonstrating the versatility of the collection, which can be used either as a system or as individual piece of furniture. The event planned for the presentation of Pastilles at Bar Basso will be the scenic, tangible demonstration of Tacchini’s response to the requirements demanded by the new concept ofcontemporary, global hospitality, in particular with hotels all over the world seeking to create a pleasant, comfortable and cosy atmosphere where guests “feel at home”.

In January 2019 Tacchini will be taking the story of its furniture to the theatre with a curatorial project by Davide Fabio Colaci in conjunction with the Arsenale Theatre and directed by Marina Spreafico.

The Arsenale Theatre under the direction of Marina Spreafico, in its tradition as an experimental theatre, will be concentrating Tacchini items and their stories into a single “installation”, mixing furniture, actors and audience with their life experiences. This series of short sketches and dramaturgical pills will in turn interweave with the stories of the products in the collection. In a mysterious and surreal atmosphere “stories in the story”, a combination of real-life information and pure fantasy, will take shape, describing to us how objects view our life as humans.

Tacchini presents its design pieces at Club Unseen, the manifesto project by Studiopepe that is to be launched during the Milan Design Week. It is a secret space with a contemporary atmosphere, a research that investigates themes related to hospitality. The project develops in a unique and experiential path of interior, which interprets the different forms of living. Inside the Club, historical design compares itself with contemporary pieces selected or designed by Studiopepe, in an unusual and classified location, an exclusive, welcoming place to share. And Tacchini products, including its re-editions and novelties 2018, are among the selected pieces that contribute to the creation of this exclusive atmosphere.

One of the novelties is Julep by Jonas Wagell, the upholstered sofa and armchair are characterised by soft and enveloping shapes, a collection inspired by the Avant-Garde furniture of the Fifties, with a romantic and feminine line. The second novelty is the Pi–Dou vases by Alvino Bagni, the perfect blend of material, technique, functionality, tradition and beauty. As re-editions are the Sesann sofa by Gianfranco Frattini, an informal upholstered seat featuring a tubular steel structure; the Coot table by Gordon Guillaumier, inspired by the pure and simple geometry of a petal that allows you to arrange different compositions and the E63 lamp by Umberto Riva, in steel and with simple lines that seem to give shape to the light itself.

Art and design: two boundless codes of communication that often meet and merge, in an interplay of exchange and contamination, alive with creativity, culture, innovation and rediscovery. This is the spirit of Design Meets Art: an event that brings together Tacchini, a key Italian player in the design world, and Dubai’s Opera Gallery, an exhibition space that is part of one of the most prestigious international networks of contemporary art galleries.

Since 1965, Tacchini has been a sensitive and refined interpreter of the home world, of collective spaces and of spaces dedicated to art and culture, with a philosophy based on the inimitable, authentic values of Italian-made production – quality designs and materials, carefully crafted production, an innate sense of beauty, harmony and wellbeing – as well as partnerships with some of the most interesting figures in contemporary design, including Pietro Arosio, Luca Nichetto, Pearson Lloyd, Claesson Koivisto Rune, Monica Förster, Lievore Altherr Molina, Christophe Pillet, Gordon Guillamier, Patrick Norguet, in addition to the fervent rediscovery of previously unknown pieces by great masters of the past, such as Achille Castiglioni, Franco Albini and Gianfranco Frattini. Museums, libraries, hotels, public spaces and private residences: the Tacchini collection interprets all the habitats of contemporary living, with a universal language formed of shapes, sensations and emotions. Each creation marks an important stage in a journey through the many scenarios in which we live, work, express our lifestyle or simply enjoy a moment’s relaxation or meditation.

The Gulf region is one of the most important markets globally, and Tacchini has been a successful presence there for many years. Now the firm dedicates the event Design Meets Art to the vast audience of architects, retailers, buyers, journalists and design and furniture lovers assembling in Dubai for the Hotel Show, the biggest hospitality fair in this part of the world. From 28 to 29 September 2014, Opera Gallery Dubai will host some of the most significant items in the Tacchini collection.
